Frequently Asked Questions
If I am pregnant with multiples, should I join now or wait until my babies are born?
We encourage all pregnant mothers to attend meetings and club functions before the babies are born to make a network of friends, learn about the special considerations with multiples and to get advice on a myriad of topics from pediatricians, prenatal care, breast feeding, formulas, gear, etc. Some Moms wait until the babies are actually born before joining due to difficult pregnancies and fears of the unknown. However, our Club is intended to be a great way to get a head start on all of questions you may have now or after you give birth. Member benefits such as use of our Preemie Closet, as well as our Member Meal Train, and our New and Expecting Moms Support Group are all examples of how new moms can benefit from club membership.
Can my older/younger children attend playgroups for other age groups?
Playgroups are formed based upon age groupings, as well as general interest and availability for members and leaders organizing said events. While we encourage you to take advantage of the playgroup to which your children should go based on age, we also understand that parents need to accommodate schedules and child care, so use your discretion or ask an event leader if you have questions about older/younger children attending. Close supervision of the kids is warranted at all times.
Why do you do fundraising activities?
We are a non-profit organization. Your dues are used for events throughout the year as deemed appropriate by the Club Board. However, annual dues may not cover the cost of all activities, which is why some costs may need to be covered by individuals. In addition, as part of our non-profit organization status, we do have a community philanthropic aspect to our club wherein we hope to do good works in our community. Such events may have fundraising elements to them, independent from fundraising related to Club specific events.
Who is eligible to run for board positions?
Any member in good standing who has been a member for at least six months may run for a board position. The president should preferably have been on the board for at least a year previous to term, and can only hold the office of President for two years. If you have more questions you can refer to our Club Bylaws.
How often does the board meet?
The Club Board meets bi-monthly, unless noted otherwise. Board Meetings are the week prior to the Member Meeting, and all members are welcome to attend.
What can I do to be involved but not hold a board position?
You can support the club by attending events and helping with fundraising opportunities, or by becoming a committee member, offering to host an event, helping with membership by recruiting new members, or just speaking with one of the Board Members to find out where you best fit given your interest and skills.
